Eagle Pass Independent School District's mission is to “enable and inspire all students to achieve academic excellence preparing them for college, career, and life.” EPISD educates 14,300+ students on 24 campuses, employing 868 teachers. The District boasts a 92.2% graduation rate. High school students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. as well as dual credit courses.

In the annual academic accountability ratings calculated by the Texas Education Agency, Eagle Pass ISD scored an A+ based on excellence in performance on state standardized tests; graduation rates; and college, career, and military readiness outcomes. The ratings examine student achievement, school progress, and whether districts and campuses are closing achievement gaps among various student groups.

Eagle Pass also has two private schools: Redeemer Episcopal School and Our Lady of Refuge boarding school.

Higher education institutions Sul Ross State University and Southwest Texas Junior College offer dual credit programs for high school students.
